Investigations, White Collar Crime and Fraud

Our lawyers have a wealth of experience in dealing with regulators and working closely with numerous government agencies and statutory boards in our public prosecution for regulatory breaches, during the course of which we actively liaise with investigators and direct investigations and provide recommendations to the Attorney General Chambers.

We have also advised large commercial clients on how to structure and carry out their internal investigations in relation to corporate fraud, corruption and other internal white collar crime, and assisted them in conducting their internal investigations culminating in the preparation of reports detailing the investigation findings for use by government authorities and insurers. Our involvement includes document protection, preservation and review and conducting witness interviews.

We have experience acting for corporate clients in respect of corruption probes by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau, which include liaising on our clients' behalf with the authorities, reviewing and advising on witness statements given to the authorities and advising on the overall disciplinary process.

We also assist our clients in asset tracing and investigation in situations of fraud, and in their recovery including by commencing legal action against the fraudster in the Singapore Court and where necessary, urgently apply for an interim worldwide mareva injunction.

We have advised global companies on anti-bribery and corruption issues in Singapore, and regularly work with foreign counsel to provide our clients with comprehensive advice on such issues in other jurisdictions such as India. We have also drafted bespoke anti-bribery and corruption polices for such companies to ensure compliance with applicable regulations in Singapore, namely the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Penal Code and foreign ABC legislation including the FCPA and the UK Bribery Act, given their international operations, and advised on our assessment of the key risk areas unique to their business operations.
